Rajah Shrine Legion of Honor Internet Newsletter
Volume 1, No. 1
FEEL THE PRIDE
Welcome to the Online Rajah LOH Newsletter! Every
other month our Newsletter will be updated with new and (hopefully)
exciting news around our Shrine Unit and other LOH Units in the
Mid-Atlantic Shrine Association. As we get the information on
their Commander's Balls & Ladies Nites, Picnics, Golf Outings, etc. we
will gladly post it for your information. |

From the Commander
Once again the Legion has all good news to report. Our attendance
at our regular monthly meetings has been giving us a "full house". It is
very encouraging to see so many new faces of men who have not been seen
for a while.
We inducted a new member at the February
meeting and there will be another new member inducted in March.
It's time to get the trailer "standing
tall" for the parade season. Past Commander Marv Hill may need some help
to rework the whole railing system on the trailer and also create a
weather proof cabinet for the sound system. He will let us know when he
intends to start this work.
The preparation for the Commander's Ball
is well under way, thanks to the efforts of Denny and Kathy Hagan and
1st Vice Commander Don Sheipe. Thank you all.
Also "thank you" Legion Ladies. What an
absolute great addition you have been to our entire Legion efforts. It
is apparent that you are doing a fine job evidenced by seeing a constant
increase in your membership and attendance. Way to Go!
I want to remind you of LOH Spring MASA.
We have one of our own group going in as LOH commander, adjutant Dennis
Hagan. Let's all make a concerted effort to attend this event and give
Denny our full support. It is an honor to have a Rajah member be elected
to this prestigious office.
ONCE AGAIN

Adjutant's Report
Greetings
Nobles and Ladies, Summer is upon us and it’s nice to see so many
participating in our Legion events. The trailer was full at the
Wyomissing, July 4th parade. We had a Color Guard and did
they look sharp! The afterglow at Commander Ray and Lady Sharon’s home
was FANTASTIC! I believe there were 40 people there to make it a very
nice get-together.
Don’t forget the Legion Pig Roast on August 8th. Past
Commander Dan Hurrell has a good day planned for us. Kathy Hagan
(610-779-9268) will be running the Silent Auction so please be sure and
contact her if you have a new, or gently used item you’d like to
donate. Remember hand crafted items are also popular.
For the “travelers” in our Legion, the upcoming Commander’s Balls
are Almas Temple – Aug. 15, Zem Zem Temple - Aug. 22, Zembo - Sept. 26,
Jaffa Temple is Oct. 23rd or 24th. The date is
still up in the air. Syria Temple – Oct. 30th, a Friday
night, and Nur Temple – Nov. 14th.
For those new members who would like to start traveling to the
other Temples for these events, all you have to do is let it be known
and you and your Lady will be welcome!
On a sadder note we still have over 40 members who owe dues for
2009. Please Nobles, check your dues cards and make sure you’re paid up.
Yours in the Faith,
Dennis L. Hagan, PC, MC, Adj.

LEGION OF HONOR
FAMILY PICNIC:
I’d like to thank all the Nobles, Ladies and Guests for attending
and supporting our Family Picnic on June 27, 2009. We had 101 people at
the Shrine Pavilion for the event. This year along with the Barnyard
Bingo, we had a Chinese Auction which was well accepted by all.
I would also like to thank my Committee for their work and Sammy
Lauck and Red Hart, PC for their cooking expertise, these two Nobles
just seem to hone their cooking skills and get better each year.
Yours in the Faith,
Dennis L. Hagan, PC, MC, Adj.

From the Quartermaster
Effective immediately, all used clothing, Fez's, shoes, etc. will be
free of charge. Previously, we asked for a donation. The
clothing is in an unlocked cabinet in the far end corner of the garage
and storage building. If your uniform shrank in the closet, there
may be something that fits you better. There is a list of
available clothing on the bulletin board in the General Purpose Building
hallway. Take a look, try it on, if it fits, it's yours.
Just leave your old things there, they may fit someone else. If
you don't know the combination to the entrance door, there is usually
someone around who does. You can also check with the office.

VA Hospital Picnic
Zembo has asked us to join them in serving a picnic
lunch to the Veterans in the Lebanon VA Hospital. The date will be
Saturday, July 25, 2009. They have been doing this for the last
few years and said it is very well received by patients and staff alike.
Hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers are made on
outdoor grills, then brought in to Bldg. #18 and served with baked
beans, potato salad and dessert. The staff has asked us to cut
back on the desserts due to the fact many of the patients are diabetic
and will eat too much sweet stuff. The suggested maybe veggie
trays or small fruit portions.
We are looking forward to joining the Zembo LOH Nobles
and Ladies visiting with our brother Veterans. Please contact
Commander ray Miller if you are interested in joining us. |
